NOCN Entry Level Award in Introduction to Plastering (Entry 3)

 This Level Entry 3 qualification is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on learners demonstrating what they can do whilst also giving them the knowledge and theory.

The learner must complete all mandatory units to achieve this qualification:

Mandatory Units:

Introducing Health and Safety in Construction
The aim of this unit is to assist learners new to construction in gaining an insight to the importance of health and safety within the industry, the risks involved and how it is managed

Introducing Plastering
The aim of this unit is to instruct the learner in the skills used to carry out basic plastering tasks and provide the opportunity to demonstrate their learning.
The course is workshop and classroom based and will include in depth discussions, demonstrations and practical activities and workbooks. The mandatory units are internally assessed through the completion of at least two practical tasks along with the completion of the NOCN Assessment Booklet to evidence all learning outcomes.
Learners will complete multiple skimming projects, enabling you to achieve a paintable finish. Additionally, you’ll learn other essential plastering techniques.
This course is suitable for those with little or no plastering experience and is designed to provide basic plastering techniques to be able to carry out domestic projects after completion.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Apply finish plasters to various background surfaces.
  • Understand and usage of finish plasters.
  • Understand uses and types of corner beads.
  • Cut and fix thin coat beads.
  • Prepare various backgrounds to accept finish plaster.
  • Understand backing coats and their uses.
  • Plaster repair a hollow wall.
  • Health and Safety related to each task
