This 4-day course is suitable for those with little or no tiling experience and is designed to provide basic tiling techniques (DIY) to be able to carry out domestic projects after completion.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to: 

• Correctly fix / lay and cut tiles to various backgrounds.
• Understand the various types of primers and how to use them.
• Understand the differences between Ceramic, Porcelain, and Natural Stone tiles.
• Understand the correct and safe use of tools and materials.
• Prepare a range of substrates.
• Correctly set out walls and floors prior to fixing tiles.
• Grouting techniques.
• How to apply silicone sealant
• Understand Health & Safety related to each task.

The course will include in depth discussions, demonstrations, and practical activities in the following: 

• Materials, tools, setting out, mixing adhesives, general health and safety, basic setting out procedures, tile fixing procedures and tile fixing methods.
• How to set your wall out and fix tiles correctly, working around a window opening, including learning about internal and externals angles.
• Tile trim types, you will learn how to cut fix them onto your external corners correctly.
• Removal of tiles and the options available. This will be followed by setting out tiles and options available, cutting tiles around obstacles.

You will learn that when tiling is of a high standard of finish it can be both rewarding and satisfying. Our instructors are experienced tradesman, so if you are aiming to work in either your own home or customers’ homes, they will happily answer all your questions about estimating for materials, quoting and pricing jobs.

Certificate of attendance will be issued to delegates demonstrating the correct levels of understanding and practical skills.
